RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) - The Russell County School Board established a plan Thursday to begin searching for a new superintendent. The board made the plan at a special called meeting.Superintendent searchSuperintendent Dr. Brenda Coley announced her retirement in September. She has worked in the Russell County School District for 37 years and has been superintendent for 11 years.Coley has agreed to delay her retirement until the board finds her replacement.Board member Tim Simpson, the at-large member, said the process is lengthy and involves strict legal aspects. The board chose to use the Alabama Association of School Boards to assist in the search.Simpson said the board tells the association the criteria it wants. The association then takes over and returns to the board with the top three prospects.“Those three names would then be interviewed or we would have a public hearing and let the public be involved and then the board itself would do interviews and we will go from there,”
