OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - A 17-year-old from Opelika is in the hospital after being shot in a vehicle Wednesday.Officers responded at approximately 7:17 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the area of South Long Street and Alabama Avenue. Responding officers found the 17-year-old in the back seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the leg. The teen was taken to Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown for treatment.Witnesses said a dark-colored passenger car drove past and fired several shots at the vehicle before speeding off.The case remains under investigation.
