Auburn struggles to keep pace in 45-15 loss to Ole Miss — Columbus Technology news

OXFORD, Miss. (WSFA) - Auburn struggled to find consistency on offense Saturday, failing to slow Ole Miss’ attack in a 45-15 loss to the Rebels. The Tigers briefly cut into Ole Miss’ early lead with a second-quarter touchdown pass from Byrum Brown to Chas Nimrod, but a blocked extra point and costly defensive touchdown return, kept them from gaining any momentum. Ole Miss opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run by William Echoles in the first quarter, capping a 17-play, 89-yard drive. Auburn answered with a 21-yeard touchdown reception by Nimrod late in the quarter. The extra-point attempt was blocked, and Ole Miss’s Jaylon Braxton returned the loose ball to Auburn’s 5-yard line. The Rebels capitalized on the field position with a 1-yard touchdown run by Shekai Mills-Knight to extend their lead 14-6.Auburn responded with a late second-quarter drive, and Alex McPherson connected on a 29-yard field goal with five seconds remaining to send the Tigers into halftime trailing 14-9.Ole
