AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) - Hardee’s has officially exited Auburn after shutting down its final restaurant in the city. The longtime location at 800 Wire Rd. closed for good on Monday, Nov. 2, according to signage posted at the entrance, thanking customers for years of support. By Tuesday morning, the drive-thru menu boards had already been stripped bare. Operated by franchise group Phase Three Brands, the Wire Road restaurant had been Auburn’s only Hardee’s since the downtown location shuttered in the 2000s. The move comes as fast-food chains nationwide face economic headwinds, with franchisees shutting down dozens of Hardee’s locations across the country over the past year. For local customers craving the chain’s famous scratch-made biscuits, the posted notice directs diners to the two nearest operating locations in nearby Opelika: 2530 Pepperell Parkway in Opelika 1902 Marvyn Parkway in Opelika
